St. Ishmaels are the new Division One leaders after knocking Cresselly off the top of the table with a six wickets win at home to Cresselly on Saturday. Cresselly were bowled out for 185 and the innings was held together by Phil Williams who scored 80 before being caught by Andrew Pawlett off the bowling of off spinner Andrew Salter having hit 10 fours. Left-hander Simon Cole supported with 44 and Richard Harris scored 16. Seven wickets fell to spin with young Andrew Salter taking 5 for 39 and Daniel Flynn 2 for 51. Opening bowler James Salter took 2 for 22. In reply, Tish reached 186 for 4. Jonathan Pawlett led the victory bid with an attacking innings of 91 before he fell to a return catch off the bowling of spinner Simon Cole. Pawlett hit 11 fours and one six in his innings and received valuable support from Andrew Williams with 42 not out, Andrew Salter with 15 and Andrew Palmer with 14. For Cresselly, Simon Cole took 1 for 18 and Richard Harris 1 for 26 with Huw Neil taking 2 for 37. Carew have moved up into second place after defeating Neyland by four wickets. Neyland had been held to 127 for 7. Paul Murray was the main run getter with 41 backed up by skipper Andrew Miller with 37. For the visitors, there were two wickets each, for skipper Rob Scourfield, all-rounder Tim Hicks and spinner John Canton. Without a fine innings of 50 not out by Brian Hall and including eight fours, the visitors could have been in some trouble. However, Hall and Tim Hicks added 56 for the fourth wicket before Hicks was caught by wicket keeper Sean Hannon off the bowling of his brother Patrick Hannon. Wayne Cannon backed up with 19 as Carew got to 130 for 6 with four overs to spare. Patrick Hannon took 2 for nine and spinner Phil Davies 2 for 34. Wicket keeper Christian Phillips picked up a hamstring injury early on in his innings for Lawrenny away to Haverfordwest. Phillips battled on with the aid of a runner and had an impressive knock of 95 not out with three sixes and six fours as he led the recovery after Lawrenny had been 8 for 2. Lawrenny skipper Steve Lewis provided back up with 23, as did James Buckle with 20. For Haverfordwest, paceman Simon Williams took 2 for 23 and spinner Nick Dyer 2 for 54. Haverfordwest gave notice they were still in the Division One Championship race with a comprehensive 10 wickets win with nine overs left. Danny Potter was 91 not out having hit 15 fours and one six and Richard James was 83 not out with 11 fours. Whitland reached a total of 180 for 8 at home to Pembroke. David Lee scored 34 before retiring hurt with a hand injury, which prevented him from holding a bat. All-rounder Matthew Davies scored 36; Kevin Pearce top scored with 37 and Owain Davies scored 27. Nigel Phillips took 3 for 45 with his off spinners for Pembroke supported by the medium pace of his son Perry with two for 38 and the experienced Kevin Jenkins had a tight spell and finished with 2 for 12. Matthew Davies followed up his batting to take five for 25 in eight productive overs and Whitland skipper Paul Webb took four for 20 in a controlled spell of spin bowling. The only Pembroke batsmen to play with any distinction were Will Davies who hit eight fours in his innings of 45 and skipper Barry Evans who grafted his way to 32 from 86 deliveries. Pembroke were bowled out for 99 and Whitland won by 81 runs. Excellent batting throughout the order enabled Narberth to reach 248 for 8 away to Burton. Openers Ian Hughes and skipper Marc Hughes put on 65 for the first wicket before Ian Hughes was bowled by Jonathan Venables for 41 having hit eight fours and one six. Marc Hughes went on to score 52 with nine fours before being caught by Richard Scriven off the bowling of Jonathan Scale. Kyle Quartermaine held the middle order, together with 54 from 72 deliveries, Paul Phillips scored 14, Aron Keane chipped in with 16 and then Ollie Cook made sure that the visitors ended up with a good score in a quick fire innings of 39 from 25 deliveries before he became the fifth of Jonathan Scale's victims when he was bowled. Scale ended up with figures of 5 for 40 and James Venables 2 for 45. Most people would have written off Burton chances of going for the runs, but they did, led by James Venables with an outstanding innings of 101 not out with 12 fours and one six from just 123 balls. Venables had support from Richard Scriven with a typically hard hitting innings of 53 with six fours and two sixes and there were cameo knocks of 18 from Steve Jones, 17 from William Scriven and 16 by skipper Mike Venables. For the visitors, Ollie Cook took 2 for 26, Ben Hughes 2 for 42 and Ben Quartermaine 2 for 61. Division Two

Llangwm strengthened their grip on the number one spot with a five wickets win away to Lamphey who did well to reach 150 for 8. There were no big individual scores, but there were useful knocks of 29 by Nic Johnson, 26 from teenager Lewis Haines, 14 by both Paul White and Jason Oatley and 12 by Peter McGilloway. Grant Cole batting at number ten made sure that Lamphey will get maximum points in his innings of 22 not out with all of his runs coming in boundaries. For Llangwm, Andrew Harries took 3 for 15 and Andrew Brock 2 for 28. A second wicket partnership of 61 between Willie Morris and Jonathan Twigg paved the way for Llangwm to reach 154 for 5. Twigg was well held at deep mid-wicket by Grant Cole off the bowling of Paul White for 17, but Morris went on to score 55 with nine fours and one six as Lamphey paid the penalty for dropping him twice. All in all Lamphey must have put down five or six chances as the Llangwm batsmen took the bowlers on. Ian Phillips scored 30 and Luke Brock was 23 not out. Leg spinner Paul White took 2 for 30 and all- rounder Jason Oatley 2 for 28. Paul Mansbridge has been one of the leading batsmen in Pembrokeshire since he moved to the area from Essex as a teenager. He got Saundersfoot out of gaol at 20 for 2 in a superb innings of 98 not out to lead Saundersfoot to a seven wickets win at home to Llechryd who had been dismissed for 162. Mansbridge hit 17 fours and one six in his innings and hit a one bounce four to win the match. Remarkably, although Mansbridge has scored runs regularly year in year out, he is yet to register a league century although he has scored centuries in other forms of cricket. Even his opponents would not have begrudged him an extra two runs on Saturday to break through that barrier. Steve Cole made an important contribution in his innings of 39. Earlier, Kevin Evans scored 44 with seven fours and one six and Ollie Roberts 47 as Llechryd raced to 90 for 2 from 90 overs. Simon Stanford slowed down the run getting as he took 3 for 46, the Llechryd batsman found the pace of Danny Caine who took 3 for 35 something of a handful and David Dunfee took 2 for 20. Carew Seconds were bowled out for 140 in reply to a total of 201 for 7 posted by the visitors Llanrhian. Geraint Morris scored 26 and Ben Jones 34, but it was a seventh wicket partnership of 72, which took Llanrhian from a total of 117 for 6 to 201 for 7. In that partnership, Chris Cousens scored 79 with two sixes and eight fours and Matthew Bennett 30 not out. Teenage leg spinner Ceri Brace took 4 for 46. In the Carew reply, Nick Cope scored 20 and Steve Ive 41 not out before Gerald Hicks had a back to the walls innings of 26. However, wickets fell at regular intervals and when Rob Whitfield was leg before wicket to Chris Cousens off the last ball of the penultimate over, the visitors won by 61 runs. Left armed spinner Gareth Davies took 3 for 15 and there were two wickets each for Luke Jones, Chris Couzens and Matthew Bennett. In other Division Two matches, second placed Haverfordwest Seconds had a five wickets win away to Stackpole who were bowled out for 116. The match between Fishguard and Hook ended as a draw. Hook scored 230 for 5 and Fishguard reached 181 for 8 in reply.

Division Three

League leaders Herbrandston bowled 204 for 8 at home to Whitland Seconds. Nathan Banner scored the bulk of the runs with 85, including 12 fours and one six, supported by Kristan Bennett with 24. For the visitors, spinner Meyrick Rowlands took 2 for 48 and Jonathan Thomas 2 for 54. The visitors were unable to keep up with the required run rate and eventually settled for a draw on 122 for 8. Two experienced players were instrumental in preventing defeat as Peter Wright was 36 not out and Meyrick Rowlands scored 37. For Herbie, Nathan Banner took 3 for 19 and paceman Paul Hood took 2 for 38. The Johnston batsmen enjoyed the ideal conditions at Kilgetty and scored 234 for 9. Steven Mills junior had an excellent innings of 98 not out from 108 deliveries supported by Chris Goodridge with 54 and Richard Davies with 22. Jamie Morgan was the pick of the Kilgetty bowlers as the left arm seamer took 3 for 16 from his 12 over stint; skipper Allen Hurst took 2 for 25 with his spinners and Brian Slate took 2 for 16. The Kilgetty batsmen were unable to get going in reply. Graham Jenkins scored 32 with seven fours before being bowled by Liam James and Anthony Bevan scored 18. However, the Johnston bowlers held the upper hand as Liam James took 4 for 22, Steve Mills junior took 2 for 10 and Gary James 2 for 20. Narberth Seconds won by four wickets at home to Burton Seconds who collapsed from being 87 for one to be bowled out for 123. Opener Richard Phillips scored 35 and James Scale 59, but Greg Morris and David Johns skittled out the middle order batsmen. Leg spinner Morris finished with 5 for 39 and David Johns 4 for 26. The Narberth team had a strong batting line-up on paper but were reduced to 62 for 6. However, Greg Morris with a resolute innings of 37 not out, including six fours, and Gary Hughes with 33 not out had a match winning unbroken seventh wicket partnership of 65 as Narberth got to a winning target of 127 for 6. Cresselly Seconds had a comfortable seven wickets win at home against Camrose and Spittal who were dismissed for 85. Sion Jenkins took 4 for 22 for Cresselly, Rhydian Rees 3 for 2 and the experienced Phil James 2 for 30. Matt Williams with 29 and skipper Malcolm Arnold with 20 were the main run getters for the visitors. Scott Arthur scored 25 and Rhydian Rees 15 when Cresselly replied and Damian Arthur joined his cousin in the run chase and steered Cresselly Seconds home in his innings of 22 not out in a winning total of 89 for 3. The result meant that the Cresselly Seconds could hold on to their second place in the table. Neyland Seconds were bowled out for 51 away to Hundleton as Martyn Tweedie took 3 for 18 and Nigel Arthur 3 for 25. Andrew Hansen with 20 did his best to shore up the Neyland innings. Morgan Allen with 29 not out ensured that Hundleton won by nine wickets.

Division Four

It is still neck and neck between Pembroke Dock and St. Ishmael Seconds at the top of the table, but the Dock's four wickets win away to Llangwm Seconds gives them a one-point advantage over the Tish team at the top of the table. Llangwm Seconds reached a total of 104 for 8 with Mathew Hughes scoring 24, Sean Waller 19, Matthew Hughes 17 and Paul Morgan 16. For the visitors, Jamie White took 3 for 24 and all- rounder John Davies 3 for 29. Jason Cole took 1 for 11 in 12 overs, six of which were maidens. John Davies guided the visitors to a four wickets win in his innings of 49 not out, which included seven fours and one six. Skipper Peter Kingdom provided the main support with his innings of 30 in a Dock total of 136 for 6. For Llangwm Seconds, Matthew Kiff took 3 for 29 and Matthew Hughes 2 for 15. Consistent batting by Lawrenny Seconds set up a total of 177 for four at home to St. Ishmael Seconds. Alun Evans led the way with 51 not out backed up by Simon Webb with 43, James Phillips with 33, which included five fours and one six, and Brad McDermott-Jenkins with 21. Brendan Moon took 3 for 46 for the visitors who won by seven wickets upon reaching 178 for 3. Phil Cockburn was 68 not out and Robert Thomas scored 53. The reliable Owen Williams took 2 for 26 for the Lawrenny team. Pembroke Seconds emerged victorious from their basement clash at home to St. Florence and leapfrogged over St. Florence and Maenclochog out of the relegation zone. The Pembroke batsmen were unable to score freely against an accurate St. Florence bowling attack and were bowled out in the final over for 112. Left-hander Hugh Davies almost managed to carry his bat, but was dismissed before the end for 47, including eight boundaries, whilst the next highest scorer was his opening partner Tim Gould with 17. Other support came from Paul Rogers with 13 and skipper Simon Smith-Wrench with 10. The St. Florence seamers bowled well, none more so than Tommy Roberts who took 1 for 19 in his 12 overs. But the pick of the bowlers was Geraint Lewis who generated real pace in a hostile spell that brought him seven wickets for 32 runs. Five of the victims were bowled. If some difficult chances had gone to hand Lewis would have had the lot. Ben McDonnell ended with 2 for 36. Whilst the Saints' bowlers did well, Pembroke's bowlers were brilliant. Gwyn Griffiths, rolling back the years, and Leigh Jenkins blew away the top order to leave St. Florence reeling on 17 for 7. That the Saints batsmen managed to mount any sort of score was down to Geraint Lewis with stubborn help from Tommy Roberts and Rhys Jenkins. Geraint smashed 28 before he was dismissed, whilst Rhys Jenkins remained undefeated on eight in a final total of 66. Gwyn Griffiths finished with figures of 4 for 17 from his 12 overs, whilst Leigh Jenkins took 3 for 20 and Paul Rogers 3 for 16. Two mid-table teams met at Manorbier where the home team had the better of a drawn match against Haverfordwest Thirds. Paul Oeppen with 42 was the major contributor in the Manorbier total of 142 for 7. Mathew Vaughan took 4 for 34 for the visitors. A fighting innings of 38 not out by John Tooze enabled Haverfordwest Thirds to hold on for a draw by the skin of their teeth on a total of 107 for 9. Wickets were shared out amongst the Manorbier bowlers with Justin Evans returning the best figures his spell of 2 for 27. Division Five

Whitland Thirds had an early finish at home to Herbrandston Seconds who were bundled out for 36. Craig Llewellyn took 2 for 14 when Whitland Thirds replied, but Aled Davies with 19 made sure that the Whitland team got to 37 for 3 and a seven wickets win. Llanrhian Seconds reached at total of 173 for 7 at home to Lamphey Seconds. Chris Morgan scored 78 supported by Rob Jones with 40. The father and son combination of Andrew and James Skeels was responsible for six of the wickets as Andrew took 3 for 53 and his son James 3 for 39. In reply, Lamphey Seconds were bowled out for the disappointing total of 39. The batsmen had little answer to Yussef Bhuyan as he took 5 for 9. Narberth Thirds were away to Johnston Seconds where the home team totalled 144 before being bowled out. Matthew Stephens held things together in his undefeated innings of 64. For the visitors, Huw Simpkins took 3 for 11 and John Owen 3 for 30. Although Emyr Jenkins scored 43 backed up by Huw Simpkins with 15, excellent bowling by Nathan James with 4 for 30 and Michael Court with 4 for 7 gave the Johnston team a win by a margin of 44 runs as the visitors were dismissed for exactly 100. Carew Thirds travelled north to play Llechryd Seconds away. It was a long afternoon in the field as Dewi Davies scored 116 not out with 13 fours supported by Kes McHugh with 23 and Llechryd skipper Ian Carter with 20. For the visitors, Dan Edwards took 4 for 44 and Luke Hicks 2 for 45. Teenager Daniel Rowlands son of former Carew all- rounder Meyrick Rowlands made 29 on his Carew debut and the only other innings of note came from James Hinchcliffe with 19. Malcolm McHugh had a devastating spell of 8 for 22 backed up by spinner Tom Davies with 2 for 27 and the visitors were bowled out for 101.
