Division One
Division One leaders Haverfordwest had a bit of a fight at Whitland, but managed to win in the end by a margin of just two wickets. At the start of the match, Haverfordwest could do no wrong as Whitland were 6 for 3. Two wickets to Simon Williams and one by Phil Kirkby had sent left-handers Paul Webb, Paul Davies and Edward John on their way to the pavilion. Mathew Davies with a restrained innings of 54, supported by David Lee's 39, put Whitland back in the game and Raff Williams scored 21 so that the Whitland innings closed on 159 for 9. Simon Williams ended with 3 for 37, Phil Kirkby 2 for 46 and spinner Nick Dyer 2 for 43. Haverfordwest also had an indifferent start, but a fourth wicket partnership of 51 between David Davies and Phil Kirkby put the visitors in a position to win the match. Flynn, who has had a good season, finished with figures of 4 for 43 for St. Ishmaels, who had a dream start in an opening stand of 93. Andrew Palmer scored 32 before being caught by James Buckle off the bowling of spinner Ian Jenkins and Bradshaw 62 with seven 4s before being caught by his opposite number Steve Lewis off the bowling of Ian Jenkins. When the partnership was broken, wickets fell at regular intervals and Tish ended the day on 138 for 7 after Jonathan Pawlett had scored 17. Simon Cole took 3 for 24 for the visitors, Ian Jenkins 2 for 39 and Steve Lewis 2 for 19. The Division One basement battle at Hook turned out to be an excellent game. Hook scored 176 for 9. Openers Jamie Phelps and Brennan Lay scored 61 and 28, respectively, with Phelps finding the boundary nine times in his innings. Nick Absalom had a useful innings of 25 as Hook reached 176 for 9. Kevin Jenkins was back in the groove after a period of not bowling through injury and took 5 for 16, supported by youngster Perry Phillips, who took 4 for 60. Skipper Mathew Mitchell had scored 28 before being bowled by Andrew Thomas, but the game was turned on its head in an unbroken fifth wicket partnership of 118 between Daniel Scourfield and Hugh Davies. Davies was content to play the foil with 29 not out, but Scourfield smashed six 6s and three 4s in a belligerent innings of 77 not out to steer Pembroke to a six wickets win.
