Division One

Narberth had a comprehensive 10 wickets win at home to visitors Burton who were bowled out for 134. Richard Hayman and Mike Venables had an opening partnership of 50, which was ended when both batsmen were bowled by Richard Howell, who came on as fifth change. Promoted from the second team, Howell bowled Hayman for 29 and Venables for 25. Once the opening partnership had been broken, the visitors offered little resistance. Oliver Sheldrake and Steve Jones were both dismissed for 13, John Venables scored 12 and Kevin Roberts was 13 not out at the end of the innings. Howell put the ball on the spot and was rewarded with a return of 6 for 28, supported by Greg Morris with 2 for 39. The Narberth opening pair of 15-year-old Thomas Richards and the more seasoned Marc Hughes looked in no trouble and steered the home team to a winning total of 136 without loss. The highly talented Richards scored 18 not out, an innings which included 10 fours and two 6s, and Hughes, who is not often outscored, finished with 42 not out, having found the boundaries six times. Over 400 runs were scored for the loss of just six wickets in the local derby between Carew and Lawrenny. Batting first, the visitors Lawrenny nudged past the 200 mark to score 202 for 5. Andrew Cole senior scored 56 with a six and five 4s and added 73 in a fourth wicket partnership with Ian Jenkins, who was 49 not out. Simon Cole supported with 22 and Robert Williams was 24 not out at the end in a brisk innings, which included two 6s and two 4s. Carew had an ideal start, with openers Martin Scourfield and Ian Sefton putting on 127 for the first wicket, before Scourfield fell leg before wicket to Lawrenny skipper James Buckle for a solid 46. Sefton continued where he left off at the Harrison- Allen Bowl Final to stroke his way to a stylish 114 not out from 126 balls with two 6s and eight 4s. The momentum was maintained by Simon Wood, who played the supporting role with 33 not out, as Carew won by nine wickets upon reaching 203 for 1. Neyland were bowled out for 98 at Cresselly, despite the efforts of Greg Miller with 24 and John Jones with 17. Irrepressible spinner Ryan Lewis took 5 for 16 to destroy the strong Neyland batting lineup and was supported by the line and length merchants, Lyn Richards and Richard Harris, who finished with 2 for 20 and 2for 21, respectively. Such is the strength and depth of the Cresselly batting order that a total of under 100 was never likely to challenge the village side. However, Cresselly got off to a tricky start and were 15 for 3, before Adam Chandler joined skipper Lyn Richards at the crease. Chandler finished the Harrison-Allen Bowl final with a six onto the clubhouse roof and he was in big hitting mode against the Neyland bowlers. Playing shots all around the wicket, he had a match-winning innings of 66 not out, with all but two of the runs coming in boundaries. Chandler had seven 4s and an amazing six 6s in his innings, while skipper Richards provided the perfect foil with his knock of 21 not out. John Jones took 2 for 38 for the visitors. Whitland won by six wickets at St. Ishmaels after holding Tish to a total of 141 for 7. Andrew Williams top scored with 57, supported by skipper Peter Bradshaw with 30 and Steven Williams with 21. Teenager Rob Merriman took 3 for 23 in 10 tight overs for the visitors, spinner Paul Webb took 2 for 30 and Jonathan Davies 2 for 37. Whitland paced their response to perfection and got to 142 for 4 with one over to spare. Skipper Paul Webb opened the batting and was 69 not out, having hit seven 4s, with Marc Lee at the other end with 15 not out. Other useful contributions came from Hefin Thomas with 18 and Paul Davies with 14. For Tish, Andrew Pawlett took 2 for 33. Division One leaders Haverfordwest were given a fright at Lamphey, who were bowled out for 110. Robert Mathias dominated the Lamphey total to such an extent as to score 75 with a six and seven 4s, before being trapped with his pads in front by paceman Simon Williams. None of the other batsmen reached double figures and Mathias was the only Lamphey player to take the Town bowlers on and to risk playing the ball in the air. The only partnership of note was the fifth wicket stand of 38 with skipper Hywel Gibbs. Town skipper Adrian Griffiths took 3 for 8, Simon Williams 3 for 26 and spinner Clive Tucker 3 for 39. Haverfordwest were reduced to 54 for 5 and struggled to score runs against the Lamphey opening attack of Hywel Gibbs and Grant Cole. However, the visitors were saved through a sixth wicket partnership of 51 between skipper Adrian Griffiths and wicketkeeper Huw Scriven. Scriven opened his shoulders once or twice and he scored 31 before being caught by Hywel Gibbs off the bowling of Will Silcox. Griffiths finished with 22 not out and earlier Karl Rhead scored 15 and opener David Davies 13. Grant Cole took 3 for 30 and Hywel Gibbs 2 for 25 for Lamphey.

Division Two

Carew Seconds took an important step towards avoiding relegation with a convincing win away to Fishguard, who were bowled out for just 64 in response to the visitors' total of 237 for 3. Phil Jones scored his first century for Carew in his innings of 118 not out. The hard hitting early order batsman hit six 6s and eight 4s and received excellent support from all-rounder Aled Davies, who hit 63 with two 6s and eight 4s. Darren Thomas backed up with 25. The Fishguard batsmen had little answer to the varied Carew bowling attack. Aled Davies and Darren Thomas both took 3 for 9 to rip the heart out of the Fishguard innings and Ceri Davies took 2 for 15. Saundersfoot won by 71 runs away to Stackpole to gain some revenge from being knocked out of the Harrison-Allen Bowl by the Stackpole side. Mike Williams and Paul Mansbridge combined in a quick-scoring third wicket partnership of 81. The left-handed Williams hit four 6s and seven 4s in his innings of 61, Mansbridge scored 38, while both James Caine and Ian Poole scored 38. Barry Phillips was also in the runs with 30. Anthony Canton took 2 for 40 and Richard McKay 2 for 42 for Stackpole. Huw Cox and Welsh rugby star Jonathan Thomas gave Stackpole an excellent start with their opening partnership of 70. Cox scored 55 and Thomas 54 with a six and five 4s. However, on their departure, the Stackpole batsmen were unable to dominate the Saundersfoot bowling attack. Anthony Canton scored 32, but the other batsmen crumbled as Barry Phillips took 4 for 38 and skipper Chris Parker 3 for 47. Pembroke won by 100 runs at home to Johnston, who were bowled out for 71 after Pembroke had scored 171 for nine. Pembroke skipper Mathew Mitchell scored 44, Barry Evans consolidated with 40, Colin Kaijaks chipped in with 20 and all-rounder Nigel Phillips 19 not out. Gary James scored more than half his team's runs with his innings of 40. In other Division Two matches, Haverfordwest reached 184 before being bowled out at home to Llanrhian following a century by Phil Kirkby. Llanrhian held out for a draw with 154 for 9. The local derby between Hook and Llangwm also ended in a draw. Hook scored 257 for 4, with Jamie Phelps 121 not out. Langwm held on at 160 for 9, with Andrew Harris scoring 46. Ross Martin took 5 for 29 for Hook.

Division Three

Narberth Seconds had a poor start in their away match against Burton Seconds and were 6 for 3. However, Kyle Quartermaine and Joel Davies staged a recovery in their fourth wicket partnership of 104. Davies hit seven 4s and a six in his innings of 54, Quartermaine scored 49 and Ceri Davies supported with 26. Gary Hughes, the Narberth skipper, made sure that his side used up the 40 overs in his innings of 19 not out. Joe Dixon took 3 for 39 for the Burton team and there were two wickets each for skipper Dean Hayes and Mark Griffiths. The depleted Narberth team had travelled to Burton with 10 players, including two youngsters. The visitors put up a great fight, but it was difficult to plug the gaps in the field and Burton Seconds won by six wickets with three overs to spare. Andrew Cromwell had an important innings of 53 and Martin James was 46 not out. Ben Quartermaine took two wickets for the visitors. Manorbier were bowled out for 110 in their away match against Pembroke Dock, with Andrew Wood taking 4 for 21. Middle order batsman Keith May offered most resistance in his innings of 41 not out. However, the Dock batsmen found runs even more difficult to come by and Mathew Cunningham, with 22, was the only batsman in double figures as the Dock were bundled out for 48. Phil Kidney took 5 for 17 and Jeremy Smith 4 for 29. Division Three leaders Herbrandston had little difficulty in overcoming the challenge of Lamphey Seconds. The visitors were bowled out for the meagre total of 20 as Kristan Bennett took 7 for 10. Nathan Banner was 14 not out as Herbie won by nine wickets. Keith Silcox picked up the only wicket to fall. Maenclochog are still in the promotion race despite being bowled out for 131 away to Hundleton. Mike Howe top scored with 46 and Narberth rugby player Jamie Bohata had an aggressive innings of 42, with Paul Bowen scoring 21. Jonathan Williams took 4 for 34 for Hundleton, supported by Riaan Strydom with 3 for 3 and Nigel Arthur with 3 for 32. Fifteen-year-old Scott Arthur was the Hundleton hero with 58 not out, including two 6s and six 4s, and he steered Hundleton to a six wickets win. Morgan Allen provided support with 37 and Kevin Davies took 3 for 23 for the visitors.

Division Four

Carew Thirds, who are doomed to relegation, caused a major upset in defeating Whitland Seconds by 10 runs. The visitors were bowled out for 112 as Mathew Davies took 5 for 25 and Welsh rugby international Michael Phillips 3 for 12. David Sefton scored 47 to hold the Carew innings together and Seb Palin 29. Whitland were bowled out for 102 in reply, as Rob Whitfield took 3 for 8, Gareth Brace 3 for 26 and Seb Palin 2 for 38. Hugh Griffiths had a defiant innings of 33 with five fours, Neil Gregory played his part with 22 and Steve Davies scored 21. Due to a mix-up, Kilgetty travelled to Crymych with eight players, although later had a full complement after Allen Hurst answered the SOS and also drove Allen Townsend and Jake Marsh to the ground. Crymych scored 140 for 9, with skipper Bevis Stanford scoring 42, including seven 4s. Although the middle order fell away, Chris Wharf scored 24 not out batting at number eight, Lee Pearce scored 13 and there were 19 extras. For the visitors, Steve Merchant took 3 for 25, Brian Slate 3 for 37 and spinner Mike Johns 2 for 31. When skipper Graham Jenkins was bowled by Lee Pearce for 14, Kilgetty were forced to play for a draw and finished on 105 for 7. Opener Mike Johns provided the main obstacle to a Crymych win and scored 42 from 92 balls, before being dismissed in the last over. The only other batsmen in double figures were Allen Hurst with 12 and Adge John with 10. Lee Pearce finished with 3 for 29 for Crymych. Lawrenny Seconds had a comfortable nine wickets win at home to Pembroke Seconds after dismissing the visitors for 73. Chris Thomas scored most of the runs for the Pembroke team with 35 not out, supported by all- rounder Paul White with 18. No other batsman reached double figures. In fact, seven failed to score as Willie Morris had a devastating spell of 7 for 11 with his lively medium pace deliveries. Opener Steve Campbell and John Fuller led the Lawrenny team to victory. Although Fuller was dismissed for 22, Campbell went on to score 42 not out with six 4s. Sean Powell picked up the only wicket to fall.

Division Five

In a high scoring game at Saundersfoot, openers Dan Trowers and Simon Stanford gave the home team an ideal start with the first wicket partnership of 118. Support came in the form of 17 from Roger Stanford, with both Joe Duffy and Chris Hawkes scoring 11. Andrew Hay picked up two wickets and Haydn Phillips took 3 for 31 for Stackpole Seconds. The visitors achieved their five wickets win with two overs left. John Austin picked up two wickets for Saundersfoot. Not far away at St. Florence, the Saints batsmen were in form and scored 203 for 2 at home to Whitland Thirds. Peter Hall and Peter Rice established a club record in their opening partnership of 188. Although Rice fell for 78 when he was leg before wicket to Whitland skipper Gwyn Phillips, Hall added to his list of many centuries with 102 not out, including seven 4s. Gwyn Phillips finished with 2 for 10 from his 10 overs. In stark contrast, the visitors found runs at premium as John Davies took 4 for 2 and St. Florence skipper Tommy Roberts 3 for 17. Alec Pickersgill scored 20 and Gwyn Phillips 15 and were the only batsmen in double figures. Twelve-year-old Ashley Smith had a stunning catch on the boundary to dismiss Gwyn Phillips off the bowling of Tommy Roberts. Division Six
