Division One
Whitland's nine wickets win at Lawrenny enabled the players to breathe a sigh of relief as it has given the team an opportunity to avoid relegation from Division One.
However, there still will be everything to play for during the last two games of the season as Whitland, Lawrenny, Hook and possibly Llangwm fight to avoid joining Pembroke in Division Two next season.
Lawrenny recovered from a total of 105 for 7 to reach 164 for 7, courtesy of an unbroken eighth wicket partnership of 59 between Chris Williams 33 not out and skipper Robert Williams 24 not out. Earlier Christian Phillips scored 32 and Andrew Cole Senior 22.
There was consistent bowling by the visitors with Matthew Davies and Mark Lee both taking 2 for 29, Kristian Richards also picked up two wickets.
Left-handers Paul Webb and Paul Davies dominated the Whitland response after David Lee had been run out for 26.
Skipper Paul Webb played the leading role with a quality innings of 59 not out and Davies thumped ten 4s in his undefeated 48. Their unbroken second wicket partnership of 94 took the visitors to a total of 166 for 1.
Carew have clinched the Division One Championship after holding on for a draw at Haverfordwest against the defending champions.
After Simon Wood had made the early breakthrough, spinner John Canton took control with a superb spell of 6 for 26 backed up by a spell of 2 for 36 by Robert Scourfield at the other end.
For the Haverfordwest team Phillip Kirkby was the only batsman who looked comfortable in a hard hitting innings of 50 including ten 4s as Haverfordwest were bowled out for 120.
Although the total seemed well within Carew's range, the visitors lost wickets at regular intervals with three falling to seamer Phil Kirkby and three to spinner Matthew Johns with Stephen Phillips, Clive Tucker and Simon Williams also posing problems with the ball.
Simon Wood top scored with 19 supported by Ian Sefton with 16. Darren Thomas and Matthew Phillips played out for a draw until Thomas was caught behind by Huw Scriven off the bowling of Simon Williams from the last delivery of the day with the Carew total on 99 for 9.
Although the Carew players were disappointed with their performance against Haverfordwest, and the clubhouse celebrations were rather muted, there is no doubt that Carew have been the Pembrokeshire team of the season in both league and cup cricket.
Cresselly's batsmen were in runs again and rattled up a total of 215 for 5 at Pembroke with Julian Arthur having an aggressive 68, Adam Chandler a more sedate 65 backed up by Lyn Richards with 29.
Spinner Nigel Phillips and Martin Fletcher each picked up two wickets for the home team who failed to make the most of an opening stand of 54.
Mathew Mitchell with 41 and Barry Evans with 24 gave the Pembroke team an ideal start but Pembroke were restricted to 137 for 7 with the only other decent score coming from Martin Fletcher with 19.
Cresselly skipper Richard Harris took 3 for 18 in 12 controlled overs and Neil Gregory took 2 for 27.

Martin Scourfield gave the Carew response some backbone with his knock of 55 and he took the total to 105 from 38 for five in tandem with Ross Helmich who scored 30.
When Gareth Brace was bowled out Alan Webster off the last ball of the match, Carew Seconds were reduced to 137 for 9.

Last season in Division One, Lamphey were bowled out for 26 at Llangwm. In the corresponding game in Division Five on Saturday between the second elevens, Lamphey Seconds succumbed to Llangwm Seconds after being dismissed for the even lower total of 18.
It was one of those days when everything went right for the Llangwm team and the twin pronged attack of Richard Brock and Simon Brick ripped through the Lamphey batting line up with Richard Brock ending with superb figures of 7 for 13 and Simon Brick providing support with a return of 3 for 3.
Not surprisingly Llangwm Seconds won the match by ten wickets.
