DIVISION ONE
Division One leaders Cresselly maintained their top of the table spot with a comfortable seven-wicket win at home to Pembroke who were dismissed for 126. All-rounder Paul White top scored for the visitors with 46, supported by skipper Barry Evans with a patient innings of 22. For Cresselly, Lyn Richards took 4 for 39 and Adam Chandler 3 for 17.
Cresselly had little difficulty in reaching a total of 127 for 3, with the left-hander Simon Cole 48 not out, including seven 4s and a six, supported by Lyn Richards with 24 not out. Earlier, the Arthur brothers, Julian and Damian, had brief knocks at 20 and 16, respectively, with most of Julian's runs coming in boundaries.
Pembroke skipper Gwyn Griffiths took 2 for 29.
Arch rivals Carew are snapping at Cresselly's heels following a surprising 26-run win at home to Haverfordwest despite struggling to reach a total of 109 for 9.
Opener Nick Scourfield held the Carew innings together with 35 before being caught by Andrew Phillips off the bowling of Adrian Griffiths, but the lower order applied themselves as Carew recovered from 58 for 6 to reach 109 for 9. Robert Scourfield had an important knock of 22, with Aled Davies and skipper Darren Thomas also getting into double figures.
For Haverfordwest, Adrian Griffiths took 3 for 23, Phillip Kirkby 3 for 32 and Clive Tucker 2 for 18.
When opener Karl Rhead was at the crease, Haverfordwest looked in control, especially during his third wicket partnership with David Davies. However, Davies was dismissed with the total on 60 and Rhead fell two runs later when he was bowled by Darren Thomas for 33.
From that moment Carew were in control, although when Mathew Johns was joined by Adrian Griffiths with the total on 78 for 8, the match was by no means over.
Johns played on from an inside edge attempting an off-drive off Robert Scourfield and when Adrian Griffiths was well caught by Nick Scourfield's diving catch at backward point off the bowling of Simon Wood, it was all over, with Haverfordwest dismissed for 83.
Darren Thomas had an excellent spell of 5 for 30, Simon Wood chipped in with 3 for 11 and there were two wickets for Robert Scourfield.
The result was a mixture of resilience, commitment and team spirit by the Carew team and the fielding was quite outstanding.
Narberth have moved into third place following their six-wicket win at home to Hook after bowling out the visitors for 121.
Skipper Gary Martin top scored for Hook with 29, supported by Jamie Phelps with 25 and Mathew Rowlands with 20.
Spinner Nick Evans ended with figures of 3 for 26 and there were two wickets each for leg spinner Greg Morris, Ceri Jones and Wayne Howells.
Wayne Howells followed up his bowling to score 49 as Narberth replied with 122 for 4, supported by Michael Scale with 21 not out and Marc Hughes with 15.
Hook skipper Gary Martin was the pick of the bowlers and ended with figures of 3 for 22.
Lawrenny won by eight wickets at Whitland after dismissing the home team for 112. Rhidian Harries top scored with 26, supported by David Lee with 18 and Dylan Blain with 15.
Lawrenny skipper Robert Williams made the early breakthrough and ended the innings in his second spell to finish with 4 for 20. Spinner Ian Jenkins bowled accurately and took 3 for 15, while two wickets fell to opening bowler Stephen Rees.
A first wicket partnership of 74 formed the basis of the Lawrenny victory bid, with Chris Vincent scoring 41 and his opening partner Adrian Harries being undefeated on 47 as Lawrenny reached 114 for 2.
Meyrick Rowlands and Rhidian Harries were the Whitland wicket-takers.
In an exciting match at St. Ishmaels, Tish won by one wicket after holding visiting Llangwm to a total of 141 for 9. George Thomas top scored with 37, supported by Mark Davies with 22 and Martin Inward with 17.
Left arm spinner Andrew Pawlett took 4 for 37 and there were two wickets each for Jonathan Pawlett and Steven Williams.
Andrew Williams scored 46 in the Tish reply of 143 for 9, supported by Andrew Palmer with 25.
Kristan Bennett hit the winning four in an innings of 15 not out, supported by Andrew Pawlett in a tense nail-biting finish.
Llangwm skipper Darren Brick did his best to put his side on top with a superb spell of bowling to finish with 6 for 31.
DIVISION TWO
Division Two leaders Lamphey had a comfortable seven-wicket win at home to Llanrhian by reaching 133 for 3 in the 21st over in reply to Llanrhian's total of 132 all out.
The visitors had a steady start, but the lower order fell away as veteran all-rounder Peter Hall took 5 for 36, backed up by Greg England with 2 for 21.
For Llanrhian, Chris Couzens had an excellent knock of 33, supported by Geraint Morris with 26 and Andrew Leese with 18.
For Lamphey, Daniel Sutton scored 47 off 41 deliveries, Mark Yea had a brisk innings of 34, with five 4s and a six, and all-rounder Hywel Gibbs was 28 not out.
For Llanrhian, there was a wicket apiece for Chris Couzens, Gareth Davies and Dafydd Charles.
An amazing spell of bowling by Carew bowler Kerry Waters gave Carew Seconds a six-wicket win at Stackpole after the home team had been dismissed for 70.
Phillip Stevens top scored with 22, but there was no stopping Waters as he took 9 for 9 in 9.2 overs, with seven of his victims being clean bowled.
The experienced Gerald Hicks with 28 not out, supported by Ben Evans, took Carew Seconds to a winning total of 72 for 4. Mathew Skeels took 2 for 9 for Stackpole.
Saundersfoot had an important but narrow win by nine runs away to Haverfordwest Seconds after being dismissed for a total of 106. The stylish Paul Mansbridge scored 38 with two 6s and three 4s, supported by Ian Poole, as teenager Simon James triggered a batting collapse with a return of 5 for 20. There were two wickets each for Colin Williams and Micky Phillips.
Haverfordwest Seconds were bowled out for 97 as Chris Parker took 5 for 20, despite the efforts of Danny Potter with 37. Danny Caine also bowled well for the visitors and ended with 2 for 17.
DIVISION THREE
Cresselly Seconds are just three points behind Camrose and Spittal who are top of the Division Three table after the Cresselly team won by five wickets in their away fixture with the leaders.
Camrose and Spittal were bowled out for 99 in the 39th over as Phillip James took 4 for 11, Jim Kinnear 3 for 33 and Stephen Thomas 3 for 23.
For the Camrose and Spittal team, Gerald Evans top scored with 21, supported by Rod Mason with 18 and the experienced David Isaac with 15.
The Cresselly batsmen had a bit of a struggle to reach the winning target, but knocked off the winning runs in a total of 100 for 5 in the 38th over. Jim Kinnear led the way with 29, including a six and four 4s, while there were useful contributions of 17 from Philip James, 15 from Stephen Thomas and 14 from Phil Williams.
Manorbier have had a disappointing start to their Division Three campaign and the misery was compounded on Saturday when Fishguard won by 10 wickets after dismissing Manorbier for 72.
The match should have been played at Fishguard, but was switched to Manorbier because the Fishguard ground was too wet.
Phil Lawrence scored 17 not out and the only other Manorbier batsmen in double figures were Steve Flook and Mark Meyrick, who both scored 14.
For Fishguard, Nigel Morgan took three wickets and Stephen Meaney 2 for 17.
A half-century from Shaun O'Connor took the visitors to a 10-wicket win.
Narberth Seconds had an excellent three-wicket win away to Burton Seconds who were bowled out for 116. Andrew Cromwell had a quality innings of 53 for the Burton team, which included 10 fours, supported by openers Roger Burns with 32 and Adam Davies with 24.
Gary Hughes took 4 for 64 for the Narberth team, three wickets fell to Richard Howell and two to Ben Hughes.
Narberth had a bad start when Clive Jones was out to the first ball of the Narberth innings bowled by John Lewis. However, a second wicket partnership of 87 between the experienced Peter Hughes and Will Davidson helped the visitors reach a total of 161 for 7. Peter Hughes scored 46 and Davidson went on to make 65, with both batsmen hitting seven 4s.
Narberth skipper Mathew Davies gave his side a three-wicket win by hitting a six and a four with one over to spare in his undefeated 17.
For the Burton team, Dean Hayes took 3 for 49 and Graham Morris 2 for 44.
At Lawrenny, the visitors Hundleton totalled 190 for 4 against Lawrenny Seconds. Morgan Allen dominated the Hundleton innings with his knock of 65 which included 10 fours, supported by Steve Williams with 44 not out, Jonathon Williams 28, Jason Oatley 19 and Richard Allen 16 not out. Wickets were shared out amongst the Lawrenny bowlers.
A fourth wicket partnership of 52 between Chris Williams and Phil Cole ensured that Lawrenny Seconds would hold out for a draw at 102 for 6. Williams ended with 59 and Cole with 19. For the visitors, Jason Oakley took 3 for 30 and Richard Allen 2 for 18.
DIVISION FOUR
Pembroke Seconds went down by five wickets at home to Camrose and Spittal Seconds. The Pembroke team had been dismissed for 143, with the best bowling figures being returned by Gelli James who took 2 for 6 and Anthony Davies who took 2 for 13.
Opener Tim Gould defied the bowlers with a solid innings of 56 and he was supported by Colin Kaijaks with 26 and Mark Fraser with 17.
Opener Adrian Harries with 45 not out steered the visitors to a total of 144 for 5, supported by Adam Davies with 35. David Jones was the pick of the Pembroke bowlers with figures of 3 for 36.
Unfortunately no play was possible at Kilgetty where Carew Thirds were home to Whitland Seconds.
Lamphey Seconds were dismissed for 81 chasing a Llangwm Seconds total of 101. Lamphey skipper Grant Cole was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors with his return of 4 for 25 and he had good support from Jason Griffiths with 3 for 17 together with Haydn Cole who also collected two wickets.
For Llangwm Seconds, Sion Richards scored 35 and Jay Venables 20.
Only two Lamphey players reached double figures, with Jason Griffiths on 13 and Grant Cole on 10 as the Lamphey batsmen struggled to come to terms with the pace of the Llangwm bowling attack.
Andrew Harries took 4 for 12 and Mathew Hughes took 4 for 31.
DIVISION FIVE
In a high scoring match at Hook, Pembroke Dock declared after reaching 191 for 3. Peter Jones led the run-spree with an innings of 84, which included four 6s and six 4s, while Nicky Daley also made a significant contribution of 43.
Hook Seconds passed the total for the loss of seven wickets after 35 overs. Nigel Badham led the way with 56, supported by Brennan Lay with 35 and Sion Jenkins with 24.
For the Dock, John Davies took 4 for 53 and Steve Larne 3 for 67.
Narberth Thirds suffered an 89-run defeat at home to Neyland Seconds after the visitors had rattled up a total of 218 for 7 before declaring. Jay Dunsford was the pick of the batsmen with 72, with Ian Lewis scoring 59.
For the Narberth team, 14-year-old Richard Evans took 5 for 25.
Despite a fighting innings of 66 not out by the experienced Bob Simons, the Narberth team were dismissed for 129 after 39 overs.
Phil Davies was the Neyland hero as he returned figures of 6 for 15. In the 39th over he picked up four wickets, including a hat-trick.
Earlier, Aeron Keane scored 22 for Narberth Seconds and Simon Griffiths 17.
St. Florence went down to their second defeat of the season after being bundled out for 64 away to Letterston. Paul Rice was the main contributor to that total with 29, with Chris Harries chipping in with 11.
For Letterston, James Griffiths took 5 for 32 and Darren Osbourne 3 for 25.
A second wicket partnership of 40 between John Gwilt and Michael Lawrence put the Letterston team on target to win by six wickets, with Gwilt ending with 28 not out.
Whitland Thirds were due to play at Dinas, but the pitch was too damp.
DIVISION SIX
Kilgetty built up a huge total of 197 for 7 before declaring at Hundleton, with skipper Graham Jenkins and opener Mike Johns combining for a second wicket partnership of 172.
For the second week in succession Johns was dismissed just before reaching his half-century, this time after he had scored 48 runs.
Jenkins went on to score 112 before being caught by Colin James off the bowling of Carl John. The Kilgetty skipper hit three 6s and 14 fours in his innings.
In reply, Hundleton Seconds were bowled out for 66, with Colin James top scoring on 19, supported by Geraint Jackson with 10.
Brian Slate took 6 for 25, with pace man Anthony Bevan taking 2 for 20.
Steve Merchant and Duane Reynolds gave nothing away, with Merchant conceding just four runs in 10 overs and Reynolds eight runs in his eight overs. Both bowlers picked up one wicket each.
Saundersfoot Seconds were without a game last Saturday.
