Pembrokeshire was battered by a severe storm at the weekend.

High winds and torrential rain on Saturday caused problems across the county.

Firefighters from Narberth made safe two roofs in the town. The first was at 6 The Crescent shortly after 11 am, while later in the day - just after 5.30 pm - they attended Wisebuys in High Street.

A crew from Tenby, meanwhile, secured an unsafe structure at 3 Lancaster House in the town's High Street at 4.50 pm.

And firefighters from Whitland were called to Orchard Park Estate, Laugharne, where a trampoline had become stuck in a tree shortly before 5 pm, while just two hours later, they dealt with a tree which had fallen across the road between Bancyfelin and Meidrim.

Four customers also lost their electricity supply in New Hedges.

A spokeswoman for Western Power Distribution said that one of their cables was brought down by a branch which broke off a tree at 5.40 pm, affecting the handful of properties.

Engineers quickly responded to reconnect the supply, but due to the position of the problem, the bad weather conditions and other incidents north of the area, power was not restored until 10.41 pm.

The spokeswoman apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Pembrokeshire County Council staff were also called out to deal with several minor incidents - such as missing roof slates - over the weekend.

A gritting patrol was sent to the north of the county around the Crymych area early on Sunday and Monday morning, but salt was not needed to be laid.

The Cleddau Bridge was closed to all vehicles on Saturday afternoon and periodically closed to high-sided vehicles throughout the weekend.

On Monday, Narberth firefighters were back in action.

Loose slates at the Old Glassworks in Jesse Road were made safe by a crew who used a short extension ladder to reach the roof shortly after 3.30 pm.

Less than 30 minutes later, they attended outside the town's Queen's Court in High Street, where scaffolding and loose slates were removed to ground level.

Tuesday saw firefighters from Tenby make safe a roof at a property in Trafalgar Road.
