With just two weeks to go until the first Tenby Round Table Summer Spectacular of 2001, preparations are being made for two bumper events.

Tablers have spent months preparing for one of the highlights of the summer entertainment scene in Pembrokeshire and are looking forward to presenting two packed programmes with fun for all the family.

Once again, the main sponsors for the events are Kiln Park and Table Chairman, Chris Evans expressed his gratitude to them for their continued support.

"Kiln Park have backed us now for several years and I would like to thank them, in particular their General Manager Greg Ashley, for supporting us once again. Not only do they offer generous financial sponsorship but they provide the service of their talented entertainers who are always a big hit with the children," said Chris.

"Once again we are asking all local businesses to support us through sponsorship. This helps us as a Table to offset the considerable costs incurred in staging the events and makes sure that as much of the money that we take as possible goes to deserving causes." he added.

The first event takes place on Sunday, August 5 and Tablers are already keeping a watchful eye on the weather forecast. Last year's second event was unfortunately abandoned due to torrential rain, but hopes are high that the sun will shine this year and everyone can enjoy everything that the events have to offer.

The Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Christine Brown, will formally open the first Spectacular at 3 pm before the fun begins. First on stage will be the ever popular Jugglestruck, followed by the talented team from Kiln Park with their Bradley Bear Show.

The colourful costumes of the Celtic Claddagh Irish Dance Group will be entertaining the crowds from 5:15 pm, before the Lifeboat is launched at 5:45 pm. Tablers are delighted that the RAF Sea King from RAF Chivenor will be appearing at the first event, always a spectacular sight in Tenby's North Bay.

Colleagues from Tenby Coastguard will give a display of their impressive skills in the Harbour area from around 6:45 pm before the main focus of the entertainment shifts back to the events stage.

From 7:15 pm onwards it is music all the way with the return of the Rainkings and Talisman. Both bands proved to be enormous hits with the massive crowds at last year's events and will once again create a real party atmosphere in the harbour this time around.

Rainkings will play their well known and entertaining brand of folk music before Talisman bring their unique mix of covers from the past few decades, including Queen, Van Morrison, Robbie Williams and Bruce Springsteen, to the stage. They are sure to get your feet tapping so don't miss them!

The event will be brought to its usual rousing climax with a massive firework display choreographed by Joe Cameron from Flameburst FX. The spectacular display is always a fitting end to a great day's entertainment, lighting up the sky and bringing gasps from the crowd.

As well as the entertainment on the main events stage, there will be plenty to see and do for all the family throughout the day. There will be a wide range of side-shows and stalls managed by local charities, refreshments including a pig roast, burgers and a licensed bar, 'Wacky' Wayne Wharton's Disco Roadshow and much, much more.

"I would urge local business to support our events by sponsoring us this year. Every penny we receive counts and means that more money can be distributed to good causes. Few people realise just how much it costs to stage events like this and any help we can get, we are extremely grateful for." said chairman Chris.

"I would stress our gratitude to Kiln Park once again for their support and to Texaco who once again have loaned us their stage for both events. Everything is now in place for two cracking events: all we need is a little bit of sunshine and for everyone to come along on the day and enjoy the event." he added.

Anyone who feels that they can support the event should contact Vice-chairman Carl Evans on (01834) 842717.
