Exciting and fun events are being planned across West Wales to mark RNLI SOS Day on January 30 and the charity is keen to sign up last minute recruits.
RNLI fund-raisers are putting the final touches to plans to bring the SOS acronym to life with weird and wonderful fund-raising events, and there is still time to order a free fund-raising pack and join in the fun.
From a 'Solve Our Sudoku' challenge organised by the RNLI at Angle to pupils from St. Teilo's School in Tenby wearing 'Spots Or Stripes' on their socks - there is certain to be an SOS buzz around Pembrokeshire later this month.
Other events include: Narberth RNLI branch - quiz evening (January 31); Pembroke RNLI branch - 'Serve Our Soup' at several locations in the county; Dyffryn Taf School - 'Selling Our Sponge' cake sale; St. Teilo's School, Tenby - 'Spots Or Stripes on Socks day'; Chevron, Pembrokeshire - 'Safety Optimises Success' event; Saundersfoot RNLI branch - 'Sup Our Soup' to be held at the Sports and Social Club, Saundersfoot (lunchtime on January 30); Pembrokeshire College - a series of events running throughout the day.
Tamsin Davies, RNLI senior fund-raising manager for Wales said: "Whilst we've been thrilled by the response to our SOS appeal, we are still urging people to support us to ensure we reach our £30,000 target in Wales.
"The RNLI's crews would not be able to continue rescuing 21 people every single day if it weren't for our committed fund-raisers. RNLI SOS Day is a great opportunity for people to banish the January blues and do something worthwhile for charity, whilst having fun."
