Sophie and Laura Strutt have been together for three years. They got engaged in August 2014 and were married on September 5, 2015. Here Sophie (nee Bosley) tells us their wedding story.

The ceremony

We got married at Slebech Park. We spent a weekend checking out venues all over Pembrokeshire, but knew we had found the perfect place for us as soon as we arrived at Slebech Park.

Planning

We started to plan the wedding as soon as we got engaged, as we decided to set the date for a year ahead. We attended Pembrokeshire Wedding Fair to find local businesses. As we live in Derbyshire, it was great for us to have all the local wedding-related businesses together in one place.

Music and hymns

We both had music as we walked down the aisle. Laura had ‘How long Will I Love You’ by Ellie Goulding and I had ‘I Need You’ by M83.

Rings

Laura had a Clogau Gold ring with an ivy design and I had a white gold ring in a leaf design with a white sapphire.

Wedding party

In the wedding party were two bridesmaids, Roxy (my best friend) and Angharad (my sister), best man was Andy (Laura’s close friend), page boy was Cameron (son) and flower girl was Hallie (my god-daughter).

Wedding attire

Laura wore grey trousers, a white shirt with grey trim and a grey waistcoat, while I wore an ivory dress with lace design from Gracie Bleu Bridal (Matlock).

Hair and make-up

Laura’s hair was done by Casie Paxton at Janina Louise, Tenby, while I and the bridesmaids had our hair done by Nicola Harris at Wedding and Occasion Hair Design and make-up by Sophie Doyle.

Bridesmaids dresses

The bridesmaids’ dresses were long, flowing teal dresses, with a leaf design clasp.

Flowers

Our flowers were done by Deborah Wilcocks Floral Design. I had a bouquet, while Laura and some others in the wedding party had buttonholes. Deborah also made our table decorations for the reception. We had calla lilies as the only flowers throughout the wedding.

Reception

The reception was also at Slebech Park. We had approximately 60 guests for a sit-down meal. After this, we had a disco with a photobooth and chocolate fountain, provided by Welsh Chocolate Fountains and Strike A Pose Photobooth.

Favours

As we were having a photobooth later in the evening, we decided to give photobooth props as wedding favours.

First dance

We decided against a traditional first dance, but later on in the evening there was a spontaneous first dance to Shut Up and Dance - Walk the Moon.

Photographer

Photography was done by Pembrokeshire Wedding Photography, who captured the day perfectly.

Cake

We had a cheese and crackers wedding cake made by my parents and a wedding cake (half cupcakes, half chocolate cake) made by T’isie Teisen.

Transport

My brother Dan (who walked me down the aisle) and I arrived in a VW Beetle.

Honeymoon

As we got married just before the start of the school year, we had a belated honeymoon at the Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey in December.

Favourite moment of the big day?

It was fantastic to see all our friends and family in the same place enjoying our big day together. As our families live in two different countries, it was fantastic to spend a day with everyone together.

Top tips for couples getting married?

Go to a wedding fair and take your time finding the right providers. There were many times we could have jumped at the first offer we had, but we waited until we found the perfect venue, dress, florist etc. and that is what made our day perfect.
