Sir David Mansel Lewis retired at the end of last year after 23 years as the Lord Lieutenant of the counties of Dyfed.

To mark his service, Pembrokeshire County Council recently presented Sir David with a plaque made of Llangolman slate from the foothills of the Preselis, engraved with the authority's Coat of Arms.

The slate was carved by sculptor John Williams, of St. David's, who also made the plaque inside County Hall, Haverfordwest, which was unveiled by the Queen during the last major Royal visit to Pembrokeshire in 2001.

Sir David worked closely with Pembrokeshire County Council in the organisation of that visit when Her Majesty was accompanied by Prince Phillip.

Sir David and Lady Mary are pictured after receiving the engraved plaque from the vice-chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Mickey Folland.
