Sir,

I refer to an article in last week's Observer concerning the attendance row over Town Council meetings, and would like to thank the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, for the respect, and unstinting commitment, she has shown towards the electorate of the town and her duties as Mayor.

As a member of the electorate, I feel that it is "A damned disgrace" (note the irony) that our Mayor has been put in the position of having to defend herself concerning the issue of councillors not conveying apologies and giving valid reasons for non-attendance at Council meetings.

Someone once said that a week in politics is a long time, perhaps some of our councillors have been in for so long that they do not think that they are accountable to anyone, least of all the electorate whom they are privileged to serve.

Also, I think that some councillors should remember this when they come to my door seeking re-election, and I ask them how many meetings they have missed in the past year, or, perhaps that would be a "a damned disgraceful question to ask"!

Anyway, lets all put this little spat behind us and get on with each other, and attend meetings when we should.

Steve Maloney,

"Hazelmere,"

Warren Street,

Tenby.
