Local councillors are seeking to set up a meeting with officers of Pembrokeshire County Council's licensing department to discuss street trading issues ahead of the summer season.
Speaking at Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council, Clr. Lawrence Blackhall suggested that it would be worthwhile to meet with the authority's street care team before the busy season started, to clarify a few matters.
"It might be useful before we get into the season and have to fight through the street traders around the Five Arches to clarify where the street care team are at," he said.
"I know the officers have been working hard to try and reduce street trading in that area, but the issue doesn't seem to have been resolved, so I think a meeting would be beneficial for us all to see that the problem gets tackled as strongly as possible," explained Clr. Blackhall.
Clr. Will Rossiter said that he wished to see the issue of 'A-Frame' signage being scattered around the town also raised at any meeting.
"I'm sure that this issue has been debated around this table many times before, but the same problems are occurring in the the town again this year, with the A-Frames cluttering the streets and pavements," he remarked.
"We've created a wonderful environment for pedestrians to walk around the town, but once again areas in the High Street and all the way down to St. Julian Street are being blocked by this form of signage.
"It's a matter of safety and anything that is dangerous is detrimental to the town. I know there have been discussions previously, but this has had no impact and the county council should be enforcing these restrictions," added Clr. Rossiter.
The Mayor, Clr. Trevor Hallett, also wanted to see checks made that businesses that put tables and chairs outside their premises were not encroaching onto areas outside their boundaries.
The town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, said that it was a difficult issue for county council officers to monitor as it came within the curtilage of the café culture that they were trying to create during the summer pedestrianisation of the town centre, but he would write to the authority's street care manager, Marc Owen, to arrange a meeting to discuss all three concerns.
