Narberth County Councillor Wynne Evans says he is delighted that there will be a festive boost for shoppers in the county leading up to Christmas, following the announcement that free parking will be introduced in all Pembrokeshire County Council car parks on each weekend in December.
The free weekend parking is intended to support town centres by encouraging people to shop locally over Christmas.
"I am delighted that Narberth's town moor car park, will be designated free car parking for every weekend in December," said Clr. Evans.
"I have long lobbied the powers to be for this, which is done by other local authorities across Wales.
"Having spoken with the cabinet member, with regards to Narberth traders having had to suffer new buisness rates, which has seen a few traders in the main shopping areas close their doors for business, plus the introduction of car parking charges, which has hit traders in the town, I hope that this decision will help increase pre-Christmas sales in the town.
"I'd ask the county council to take every opportunity possible to advertise the fact that free parking is taking place during this period. I hope that every little bit helps," he added.
