Narberth's county council representative, Clr. Wynne Evans, is calling for police to 'blitz' inconsiderate parking in the town. His call comes after a fireman was unable to get to the fire station to answer a shout because he was held up in traffic in the High Street, caused by motorists flouting the town's parking restrictions. "The traffic flow through the town is becoming a serious issue," Clr. Evans told the Observer this week. "When I hear that a fireman has been delayed because of the traffic problems, that means lives are being put at risk. "I am calling for a meeting with the police and the highways department to discuss the problems and I will be asking the police to blitz the inconsiderate parking," he stressed. "At the weekend, I was informed people were parking over dropped kerbs, completely disregarding the parking restrictions, which makes it difficult for people in wheelchairs and those with pushchairs to cross the road," he continued, pointing out that Narberth had a free car park at the Town Moor. Clr. Evans has informed the Chamber of Trade about his concerns and says he hopes the crackdown will take place in the next couple of weeks.
