Town councillors are adamant that plans to redevelop a toddler park at Tenby's Jubilee Play Area will not be shifted to Battery Gardens.
Town councillors had formed a Jubilee Play Area sub-committee which had been working closely over the past couple of years with Pembrokeshire County Council's community regeneration manager, Sinead Henehan, to get a redevelopment project off the ground.
However, the project was temporarily put on the back burner last year, when it emerged that the county council were looking at possibly redeveloping the Battery Gardens as an alternative option.
Following findings last week that the Jubilee Gardens are designated as open public green spaces under the Local Development Plan (LDP), Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown, who has long campaigned for the Jubilee development, called for the council to stand firm and stick with the plans for siting the play area at the Jubilee.
"We were told by county council that there wouldn't be a move to the Battery Gardens unless all options fail at the Jubilee. Well, I don't see that is the case, so we should keep pushing for what we want at the Jubilee site," said Clr. Mrs. Brown, with her colleagues agreeing to support the idea.
