Tenby town councillors are to go on a walkabout of the resort next week.

This comes after a member commented that certain areas of the town needed improving.

Clr. Mrs. Trisha Putwain told her colleagues at Tuesday evening's meeting that it seemed 'silly' that the shelter situated at The Esplanade still hadn't got a roof on it, while some of the seating along the area looked 'uncomfortable'.

"The town has been trying to fight against the hen and stag party scenario, but it seems unless you're willing to pay to sit in a pub in Tenby, there are very little options for a bit of comfort and shelter," she said.

Town clerk, Mr. Andrew Davies, explained that Pembrokeshire County Council had shown a reluctance to put a roof on the shelter as people looked down onto it from above and there was a tendency for litter to be dropped onto it, while it was also said to attract possible anti-social behaviour if it was covered.

Mr. Davies continued that with regards to the seating, the county council had received a lot of requests for memorial benches to be placed in the town so maybe that could be an opportunity to add more seating.

Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas felt that the town council should continue to push for a roof on The Esplanade shelter, while Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, suggested that a walkabout of the town would be timely so that councillors could pinpoint a few areas that needed looking at before the summer.
