Tenby town councillors plan to organise a meeting with Pembrokeshire County Council's monitoring and licensing officers ahead of next summer in a bid to combat illegal street traders in the resort.
Councillors had recently responded to a letter from Mr. Giles Birt, of estate agents Birt and Company, who had expressed concern over the number of street traders offering hair-braiding, tattoos etc., that frequented the town during the summer.
"I think it would be wise to convene a meeting this winter with the monitoring and licensing officers, along with the townspeople, as I know a lot of them would like to express their views on the matter," said Clr. Mrs. Julie Evans at Tuesday night's meeting of the town council.
Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, backed the proposal and also suggested that the police authorities should be present at the meeting.
"We should also write back to Mr. Birt and keep him informed, as the more people of the town who take an interest in the matter, the more likely we will be to get a suitable resolution," added Clr. Mrs. Lane.
