Extra burdens and responsibilities imposed on councils, were reasons listed by Pembrokeshire County Council leader, Clr. John Davies, on Monday, as to why the Band 'D' council tax was set to rise in the coming year. County cabinet members heard how the Band 'D' council tax was set to increase by £21.91 (3.85 per cent) from £569.02 to £590.93. Clr. Davies said that the challenge had been to keep the county's council tax at a low level, but that the increase was realistic, due to factors including increasing energy costs.
