Pembrokeshire County Council has retained its Investor in People Award for a second time. The authority first achieved the accreditation in December 2000 and successfully renewed it in July 2003. Welcoming the news, the council's chief executive, Bryn Parry-Jones, said: "I am delighted that managers and employees within the authority are, once again, being recognised by an independent external body as achieving high standards in development and training. "We aim to be the 'employer of choice' in the region and this award is another reason why people should want to join us." The most recent assessment was carried out by ElWA (Education Learning Wales). Among its findings was that the council had maintained its commitment to training and that personal support was provided to employees who were encouraged to progress. ElWA also found that there was a strong culture of support and teamwork throughout the authority.
