The organisers of a triathlon event held in Tenby over the weekend have been praised by the town's Mayor.

At Tuesday night's meeting of Tenby Town Council, Mayor, Clr. Trevor Hallett said that the resort was "the place to be" for 'The Long Course Weekend' which saw thousands of athletes and supporters travel to the town to take part in the three-day event.

"It went well and Tenby was the place to be for this type of event," he said.

"Hats off to the organisers for bringing this competition to the town. I look forward to seeing even more people in the town for the Ironman event in September," added Clr. Hallett.

Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown also praised traders in the town for making it a brilliant weekend.

"When the whole of Tenby has its festival hat on, then it just shows what we can do when someone organises a brilliant event like this in the town," she remarked.

Clr. Mrs. Brown also praised the organisers of a junior football tournament held at The Clicketts over the weekend.

"Well done to Tenby Junior Football Club and Tenby Round Table, they did the town proud and it was another great event," she added, while the Mayor also congratulated Tenby U11s rugby team on a successful tour to France over the Bank Holiday weekend.
