Tenby Town Council paid silent tribute to the victims of last week's terrorist atrocities at the World Trade Center, The Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, prior to the start of business at their meeting on Tuesday night.

"We are all too aware of the terrible events that took place in America a week ago today," said Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Christine Brown. "The pain and suffering that the terrorist attacks caused touched us all.

"I have sent a letter of condolence to Mayor Giuliani of New York City expressing the deepest sympathy of the people of the town of Tenby.

"Over the years, Tenby's ties with America and the American people have been strong - whether with the soldiers of the US 28th Infantry Division during World War II; the men and women of the US Naval Facility at Brawdy and the tourists and visitors to the town.

"I would ask that we stand for a minute's silence to honour the dead and injured of last week's atrocities; American, British and the citizens of the other 40 nations who lost their lives at the World Trade Center buildings, the Pentagon and in the aircraft used as weapons of terror."
