Plans to demolish the former Sunnybank Residential Home in Narberth have met with objections from the town council.
Before members at the meeting on Tuesday evening were plans to create a residential development consisting of six two-bed, nine three-bed and 10 four-bed houses, along with associated works at the Northfield Road site.
After discussion, members agreed to object on the grounds that the application was an overdevelopment of the site and it was dangerous moving the entrance on to the bend as the road narrowed there and there was no pavement.
Councillors felt no mature trees should be removed from the site and the developers should not be allowed to use the existing public infrastructure as the land was impermeable and there were already problems in the High Street with sewage coming out of the drains.
A second application for the demolition of the residential home and construction of a bat house to the north elevation was approved.
