The Leader of Pembrokeshire County Council has repeated his comments on the need to support the continued delivery of medical services from Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest. Clr. John Davies made his position clear last November when he supported the SWAT (Save Withybush Action Team) campaign. "Much is spoken of debt, but the greatest debt of all is owed by the people of Pembrokeshire to the hospital and its staff," he said at that time. Clr. Davies has spoken to County Councillor Tom Tudor following his recent request for the County Council to consider the issue. Following their discussion, both agree that it is of paramount importance that the collective view of the authority is conveyed at the right time to the right people. "The decision of the council needs to be clear and effective in its message to the Minister for Health, who will ultimately decide the future of services for Pembrokeshire," said Clr. Davies. The leader has given an absolute assurance that the matter will be given a full and proper airing by the County Council and its relevant committees during the consultation process. Clr. Davies will shortly be meeting representatives of SWAT to consider their views and concerns.
