Pembrokeshire County Council Leader, Clr. Jamie Adams, has announced a change to his cabinet.

Clr. Huw George, cabinet member for education and Welsh language, is exchanging roles with Clr. Ken Rowlands, who is responsible for environmental and regulatory services.

"Following recent events, Clr. George has asked not to continue with his current responsibilities for education," said the leader.

"I have therefore decided to move Clr. Ken Rowlands to the position of cabinet member for education.

"Clr. Rowlands is well qualified to undertake his new duties as he has spent a distinguished career in education, spending many years as a head teacher.

"Clr. Huw George will replace Clr. Rowlands as cabinet member for environmental and regulatory services."

The leader added that Clr. George would retain his cabinet responsibilities for the Welsh language.

Clr. George said: "I have enjoyed working with our schools, teaching staff and pupils.

"I am grateful that the Pembrokeshire Ministerial Board is recognising the progress now being made in making the necessary improvements to our education service.

"I believe the time is right to draw a line in the sand and move forward, taking advantage of the fresh perspectives that a new face will offer."
