Pembrokeshire County Council has added to its fleet of vehicles with the acquisition of two school buses.

The vehicles, both 70-seat Volvos, will provide transport to Sir Thomas Picton Secondary School in Haverfordwest and Greenhill School in Tenby.

The council already runs a fleet of mini-buses - some specially adapted - to take children to and from school.

The safety equipment onboard the two coaches features lap and diagonal seatbelts for all seats and a three-camera CCTV system.

Said county councillor Brian Hall, cabinet member with responsibility for transport: "Over the past three years the county council has piloted the use of closed circuit television on school buses as it provides video evidence of behaviour problems.

"It has proved very effective and there are now several vehicles fitted with cameras. Tapes run continuously and parents are invited to see the video 'evidence' of poor behaviour and deal with the situation."
