Hunt on for new councillor
The hunt is on for a new councillor for Narberth. Members are looking to co-opt a new recruit to represent the urban ward. One application has alredy been received, but anyone else interested is asked to apply in writing to the clerk, Mrs. Caroline Coaker, Rainford, Bloomfield Gardens, Narberth, by March 17. It is hoped the applications can then be considered at the following Tuesday's planning meeting and a candidate chosen. Mrs. Coaker would then serve the necessary papers on the successful applicant who would be able to attend the April meeting of the council.
Christmas lights
Narberth Winter Carnival Committee is to make a £1,000 donation to the town's Christmas lights fund, councillors were informed this week.
Fun fair
A fun fair will be visiting Narberth during half-term in October and will be sited at the lower end of the Town Moor car park.
Development name
Otters Close has been suggested as the name for a housing development at the rear of 1 Mill Lane, by members of Narberth Town Council.
Wynne thanked
Narberth's county councillor, Wynne Evans, was thanked for his work in replacing two boulders at the entrance to the Moor, which it is hoped will stop 'boy racers' from using the area.
Bus shelter in need of repair
A letter is to be sent to Pembrokeshire County Council by councillors in Narberth asking for the bus shelter at Coxhill to be repaired.
Hedgerow overgrown
Narberth Town Council is to write to the town's cricket club asking them to trim back the overgrown hedgerow which is causing problems in Spring Gardens.
Line markings
New yellow line markings are to be painted at Narberth's Parc Roberts to ease access out of the estate.
Disabled spaces to be moved
Disabled parking spaces at Narberth's Town Moor car park are to be moved from the lower end to near the entrance, county councillor Wynne Evans revealed this week.
Skate park start
Work is expected to start on a skate park in Narberth sometime this year, Clr. Mrs. Val Bradley, who has been among those spearheading the project, revealed this week. The Narberth Skate Group have raised £20,000 for the Town Moor facility so far and are now busy applying for match-funding.
