Tenby councillors have backed new traffic proposals set out for various locations in the town.

Correspondence from Pembrokeshire County Council’s senior traffic engineer, Ben Blake, was received by members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday night.

“The council will shortly be advertising various waiting restriction proposals as part of a county-wide review which includes a number of schemes in Tenby,” wrote Mr. Blake.

Proposals include - The Croft, and the removal of the northern bay (which is considered to be underutilised and remains empty for significant parts of the day, with the lower bay to be retained); Upper Park Road (removal of double yellow lines and the introduction of loading only bay between 8 am and 6 pm, in the designated bay at the top of the road); Lower Park Road (limited waiting bay outside Tenby Glass to be amended to loading only between 9 am and 5.30 pm, and a length of double yellow line in region of dry cleaners removed and limited waiting bay extended; White Lion Street/High Street (proposal looks to improve accessibility by relocating the spaces to the opposite end of each bay where existing drop kerb facilities exist); The Green (introduction of a 10-metre long one-hour limited waiting bay to provide short-term parking facility for businesses in that area).

Clr. Mike Evans said that the proposals would offer great improvements, especially the relocation of the disabled bays, so people could access those areas safely, with his fellow councillors also giving their approval.
