COULD your life story become a best selling book? BBC One is on the hunt for real life stories that could become best selling books.

Following on from the success of the recent poetry season, the BBC is launching a major new campaign designed to encourage the nation to discover the joy of books and stories.

Up to 15 true life stories will feature in a major new five-part TV series called 'My Story' to be broadcast on primetime BBC One next year.

Every week, after each programme, one person's story will be published as a book with an advance of £20,000 from one of the country's leading book publishers.

'My Story' is not a writing competition, so you don't need to be a writer to take part.

The campaign is about finding remarkable true stories that are based on people's real lives. If your story is selected, you could be one of 15 people to appear in the five-part TV series on BBC One.

A panel of literary judges will select the winning stories and five will be published as books.

If your story is chosen, a professional writer will work with you to write your book. Each of the books will have the winner's name on the cover and will be available from bookshops across the country immediately after the programmes are broadcast.

So, if you've had a remarkable life or something extraordinary has happened to you or your family, then go to the 'My Story' website bbc.co.uk/mystory or call the 'My Story' phone-line to request a postal entry form on 0800 0 150 950.

Closing date for entries is Wednesday, January 6, 2010.

You never know, your story might be as successful as Calendar Girls or Erin Brockovich.
