The league season finished last week and it ended with a dramatic last leg win for the RFC. After leading 3-1, the singles ended up at three-all. The RFC took the first doubles, with the Taf taking the next, which left the pressure on both sets of players and after missing tops on a few occasions, the RFC finally took the honours. Well done to them. Only consolation for the Taf was winning the 1001, which will now result in a play-off on Finals Night, and Chris Jenkins winning Player of the Season. Other results saw the Parcylan A take second place after a win over the RAOB B. The Ivy Bush B finished off the season in a respectable fourth place after beating the Dragon, while the Ivy A team beat the Angel Llan. (Note to the Angel Llan - when you have five players, you can't use a player twice. Rules are you have to forfeit a game in the singles, in the doubles a player plays on his own while missing a turn and in the 1001 you miss a turn). Therefore, the original score of 5-4 to the Ivy was increased to 6-3. Elsewhere, it was not to be for the Parcylan B, who sadly never got that win in the season after losing to the RAOB A, although they never gave up and always played in good spirit. The RFC B had to be on form, losing the first three legs, then taking the next five at Lawrenny, while the Plash finished on a win at the Glandy Cross. Achievements on the night came from Neil Jolly (Ivy B) 20 darts, Chris Jenkins 18 darts and a 148 out (highest this season) and a 20-dart game with partner Martin Thomas, and apparently Dave Lewis (Lawrenny Arms) spoke to a girl. Tonight (Friday) sees the knockout stages of the Doubles. Players are asked to be at the venues by 8.30 at the latest. Anyone running late must inform the secretary. Matches are at the Dragon, Ivy Bush, RAOB and RFC. Last Sunday saw the Bisley Munt Fours take place at the RFC. Some 56 players were in attendance, with no shows from the Glandy Cross, Angel Llan and Lawrenny. Semi-finalists were Malcolm, Debbie, Gillian and Tony (RAOB B), Adam, Stuart, Paul and Peter (Parcylan A), runners-up were Clive, Marc, Steve and Andrew (RFC A), while the winners were the very strong Chris, Martin, Kim and Ray (Taf). Thanks to the staff of the RFC, Dicky Morris for setting up the boards and Wyn Phillips for conducting the draw. Last week's results: Dragon 2 Ivy Bush B 7 (1001); Parcylan A 6 (1001) RAOB B 3; Ivy Bush A 6 (1001) Angel Llan 3; RAOB A 7 (1001) Parcylan B 2; RFC A 5 Taf 4 (1001); Lawrenny Arms 4 RFC B 5 (1001); Glandy Cross 4 (1001) Plash 5.
