Residents of Cosheston have recently celebrated the opening of their newly-renovated Village Hall. The work was completed with the aid of a £121,350 grant from the Welsh Assembly under the Provisions of the Community Facilities and Activities Programme 2004-07. Edwina Hart, Minister for Social Justice and Regeneration, together with local AM Christine Gwyther, were among those present for the opening by Major I. B. Ramsden, whose grandfather, Sir Ivor Phillips, donated the land for the hall to built on. A buffet reception was enjoyed prior to the opening, while afterwards, there was a short concert. A number of people were thanked for helping make the project possible, including Ron Page, for drawing up and preparing the scheme of works; David James, who acted as technical advisor; the Welsh Assembly Government for the funding; all the contractor, members of the committee and hall users for their support and patience while the work was in progress; and Shirley David for her advice and guidance.
