Sir,
Congratulations to Mr. Wales for his letter, the first constructive contribution to the provision of a new Cottage Hospital for a long time.
At one time we hoped that Mr. Spence and his political friends had indeed joined with us - had started 'singing the same song'. It would appear that those thoughts have been dashed.
The area requires the new hospital in its present form as soon as possible - not on a political basis, but on medical and very good social grounds.
It would appear that we have a Health Board, a 100 per cent North Pembrokeshire organisation, that is not answerable to the Welsh Assembly or British Government for use of funds granted to that Board for specific end-uses. It would appear, too, that the same Health Board is not required to obey instructions from the Assembly or Parliament.
Could we please have a joint statement from Mr. Ainger, Miss Gwyther, Ms. Hutt and the Prime Minister justifying that situation? They are people voted into office by the electors and by accepting their posts have also accepted responsibility for listening to the electorate and working on their behalf.
Ivor Jenkins,
23 Dombey Road,
Poynton,
Cheshire.
