SOUTH Pembs. and Carmarthen West Constituency Labour Party celebrated the re-election of Christine Gwyther AM last Saturday evening at Saundersfoot. After weeks of hard work, Christine's success at the polls was marked by a happy, relaxed party. The chairman of Tenby and Saundersfoot branch, Mollie Neate, presented the Assembly Member with a bouquet of flowers.

Together with Nick Ainger MP and campaign workers she had covered much of the area and had been warmly greeted by the electors. Despite the low turnout, her support had been good.

Christine thanked her campaign committee and the many 'foot soldiers' who had leafleted and knocked on doors. Particularly, the campaign team had been pleased to welcome First Minister Rhodri Morgan to Tenby on Tuesday, April 15, when he met locals and visitors alike in Tudor Square and the High Street.

"His enthusiasm and warm Welsh sense of humour made the event quite special and proved a catalyst to the local campaign," said a spokesperson.
