The tourism industry relies upon several factors to measure success, but what do we need to do in order to future proof the industry in Pembrokeshire? This will be the main topic of discussion next month at a special conference being organised by Pembrokeshire Tourism.
The event in North Pembrokeshire will be presented by Andy Middleton, founding director of TYF Adventure in St. Davids and will include two key note speakers who are internationally renowned experts on responsible and green tourism; Professor Harold Goodwin is the founder of the International Centre for Responsible Tourism and Jon Proctor is the chief executive of Green Tourism. They will be joined by an impressive line-up of Pembrokeshire based sustainable tourism businesses and organisations who will showcase their work and highlight opportunities for growth of the tourism industry across the county.
Tourism liaison manager Dennis O’Connor said: “Pembrokeshire is an extremely popular holiday destination but constant management of our natural resource is required in order to protect it whilst balancing the need for the county to remain a key tourist destination. The conference will highlight the excellent work that is already being done in Pembrokeshire and it will stimulate discussion about how even small changes can future proof tourism whilst benefitting businesses.”
The Future Proofing Tourism in Pembrokeshire conference will be held at Rhosygilwen on November 6. Ticket information is available via Pembrokeshire Tourism on 01646 622228 or email [email protected]
