A local man appeared before magistrates this week charged with possessing a bladed article.

Twenty-year-old David Michael Hyde stormed out of his flat at Milton Brewery following an argument with a work colleague after a night out on September 13 unaware he was still holding a meat cleaver which he had been using to make a sandwich, the court heard.

Hyde, of Briarville, Whitehill, Cresselly, who has since lost his employment as a chef at the pub, co-operated with police who attended the premises following information they had received.

Hyde's solicitor told the court that he apologised for the incident and said it is something he wants to put behind him.

Hyde, who admitted the offence, was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £55 costs.
