The Mezin String Quartet will be giving a concert on Thursday, June 5, at St Johns Church, Tenby, in aid of Wales' Air Ambulance service. The quartet, which consists of Rebecca Whitehurst and Joanne Underwood on violin, Jim Walker on viola and Katina Andreou on cello, have been very busy over the last few months preparing this new programme of Haydn and Sibelius, which they recently performed to a very enthusiastic audience in Aberaeron. They will be joined in Tenby's concert by popular local soprano, Sarah Benbow. Sarah is a vocal teacher for Pembrokeshire's Music Service, but also has a flourishing career as a singer in her own right. She is in demand as a soloist and also sings with the BBC National Choir of Wales, with whom she is soon to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in one of this season's Proms. Last summer, both the father and brother of violinist Rebecca were in need of the services of the Air Ambulance within three weeks of each other, so the quartet have chosen to support this worthwhile charity as a means of saying thank you. So please try and support them in what promises to be a very entertaining evening. The concert starts at 7.30 pm and tickets are available on the door priced at £5 with children free. All are very welcome.
