Pembrokeshire Farmers are invited to find out about free computer training at the 'Managing Farms with IT' event at the County Showground on Wednesday, from 10.30 am until 3.30 pm.

"All farmers and their family are welcome to attend the day to find out about free computer courses in their area run by tutors who know about farming," commented organiser and Pembrokeshire College tutor, Kate Coney.

She continued: "Computing has become increasingly important in agriculture and in the home and there are a number of courses available that meet these demands including beginner, progression and management workshops that benefit businesses.

"On the day, some of the tutors will be demonstrating some of their specialisms including hardware upgrading and maintenance, database cattle records using Access, and photographic and video editing.

"There will also be some refreshments and a number of hardware and software programs. Companies have also been invited to demonstrate and sell their wares

"This represents a fantastic opportunity as the free training courses are only funded by ELWa and ESF until December 2004 and it is unlikely that there will be any financial support after then.

"All in all it should be a good day for farmers."
