Begelly Kilgetty Community Association are holding a coffee morning and plant sale tomorrow (Saturday) between 10 am and 12 noon. The event is the first in a planned series of activities to raise funds and awareness of the new Community Centre project. The Community Centre project has now reached the final planning and costing stages before the bid for grant funding can begin. Work has already started on the first phase of the community garden following a successful bid for initial funding and further development will follow shortly. Commenting on the progress of the project, David Pugh said: "There have been great strides made in the last few months, although much of the work is unseen in developing the plans to this final stage. We now need to involve the local community by becoming committed to supporting the community centre which will be of enormous benefit, not only to the villages of Begelly and Kilgetty, but to everyone in the south of the county. This is an ambitious scheme and we are confident that it will have a major impact in the area. "What we need now are the local residents to come along and support this fantastic project. We need volunteers of every persuasion, whether it is just to help making tea, planting some flowers beds or helping with some fund-raising ideas. It does not matter how much or how little you can do, just get involved. "Why not come along on Saturday and have a look at the plans, have a chat with the members of the association and enjoy a cup of coffee as well. All funds raised are being used towards the community centre. "Any donation of plants that can be sold on the morning will be greatly appreciated." Clr. Tom Price, of Kilgetty Begelly Community Council, added: "We are delighted to be working alongside both the Community Association and Planed to help bring this prestigious project to Kilgetty. For years now this community has been striving to obtain its own centre and we firmly believe we now, at last, have the opportunity to make it a reality. We need the total support of the residents to this project and I can only appeal to everyone and say, get involved - it's your village, your community, your future and to your benefit."
