Calls have been made to Wales’ First Minister to revoke the licence of the site operator at Withyhedge landfill site near Haverfordwest after ongoing issues with odours emanating from the facility.

Local Senedd Member Paul Davies has written to First Minister Vaughan Gething and Natural Resources Wales, calling for the Welsh Government to intervene as the operator has failed to resolve issues, despite promising to do so by April 5.

Concerned constituents continue to raise their frustration with Mr Davies, who stated: “The ongoing odours coming from the site are having a huge impact on people’s lives and it’s not acceptable. Despite talk of action, little progress has been made and people are still suffering.

“It’s time now for the licence to be revoked so that the community can live without having to endure these awful odours any longer.”

In direct correspondence to the First Minister, Mr Davies added: “Local residents are also very concerned that Mr David Neal, Director of Resources Management UK Ltd who owns and operates the Withyhedge Landfill site donated £200,000 to your recent Labour leadership campaign.”

NRW stated that it would discuss the findings of a further assessment this week internally with Pembrokeshire County Council and Public Health Wales.
