The community of Pennar has been paying tribute to recently retired headmaster Meyrick Rowlands.
As reported last week, Mr. Rowlands passed away with tragic suddenness whilst playing cricket for Whitland Seconds against Carew Seconds, at Hook, in the semi-final of the Alec Colley Cup, on Tuesday, July 24.
Mr. Rowlands, aged 60, had only retired from his post at Pennar Community School the previous Friday.
Flowers have been laid outside the school, while a book of condolence has been open all week for people to sign.
A service of remembrance to mark the contribution made to Pennar School and the community will be held at the school at 11 am on Monday, August 6.
"Pupils and parents, past and present, and indeed anyone else who wishes to attend are most welcome," said school governor, Martin Cavaney.
As a mark of respect, the Harrison-Allen Bowl final between Whitland and Carew, which was due to be played on Saturday, was postponed. The final will now take place on Sunday, August 5.
