34 walkers from Tenby’s Steps2Health group turned up at New Hedges village walk for the first walk of the month. Unfortunately the new month brought no change to the miserable weather.

It was a very soggy walk, but everyone enjoyed the walk and the company.

Jane, supported by Brian, led the Speedies back to Town via the Coast Path, while Barbara, backed by Annie took the Steadies, via Slippery Back. All the surrounding fields were far too muddy and slippery for any diversion from the route.

They are fenced off anyway now as part of the new housing estate. Everyone enjoyed the refreshments, but with a longing for some drier walking weather.

The 14th brought a real treat, a really nice Saturday morning, with sunshine, no wind and absolutely no rain. Having said that, the puddles were still frozen between Black Rock and the South Beach.

43 members turned out as it was an ideal day for a walk across the South Beach. It was busy with visitors as It was half term and it a Six Nations weekend. The Speedies added a circuit of Castle Hill at the end, just because they like the view from the top. A great time was had by one and all.

The 21st was an interesting sort of day, weather wise. After earlier rain, it settled down to warm sector conditions, with low cloud and very poor visibility.

Undeterred, 34 members headed to Milford Haven by community minibus and private cars. Chris, backed by Kym, led the Steadies on a circuit of the harbour and marina. Barbara, supported by Jane, took the Speedies up through the Rath before following the Steadies around the harbour.

Senior members, Ruth, Peggy and Phil were made Honorary Members by Chair Jane, in recognition of their status as founder members still supporting the club after 20 years.

The usual spectacular views were sadly obscured on this occasion. At the end there was a wide choice of cafes for refreshments before the walkers made their way home again.

On Tuesday 24th, the club held its AGM at August Place. Senior members, Ruth, Peggy and Phil were made Honorary Members by Chair Jane, in recognition of their status as founder members still supporting the club after 20 years.

Phil couldn’t make it on the day, but Ruth and Peggy were on their usual sparkling form.

The weather was beautiful for our town walk on the last day of winter on the 28th. The sky was blue and the puffy white clouds sailed along on a gentle breeze.

There were 46 walkers, evenly split between Steadies and Speedies. The first meeting at Tenby Community Gardens proved very popular. The Speedies walked beach towards Giltar and returned the same way.

The Steadies walked through the town to the harbour, onto the North Walk, then across the beach to First Point.

There was a very low tide creating a huge expanse of sandy beach and harbour. After the walk everyone headed to the Salvation Army citadel, where there was a delicious choice of soup, cake and coffee.

Steps2Health are an entry level walking club and welcome new members. We walk for up to an hour, every Saturday, year round.
