OPPORTUNITIES for team-building don’t come much more fun and meaningful than the Welsh 3 Peaks for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice, according to the charity’s Head of Fundraising James Davies-Hale.
“But don’t take my word for it,” says James, who along with his colleagues in Tŷ Hafan’s events team, is busy preparing for this year’s challenge which takes place on Saturday 6 June.
Independent construction and property service company Willmott Dixon entered three teams in last year’s Welsh 3 Peaks for Tŷ Hafan.
Executive Assistant Simone Harding was a driver for her team mates in last year’s event.
“This is one day of the year I genuinely look forward to,” says Simone. “It’s such a special opportunity to spend time with friends and colleagues while raising money for Tŷ Hafan, which is an incredible charity.
“The fundraisers truly have this event down to a fine art. It’s exceptionally well organised, and every volunteer greets you with a smile and an encouraging 'Go on, keep going!' — even when you’re the one driving the walkers to their next destination.
“As soon as the day is over, I’m already checking the calendar for next year’s date!”
Fellow long-standing supporters of Tŷ Hafan, Mercedes-Benz truck and van dealership Euro Commercials, entered two teams in the 2025 Welsh 3 Peaks.

Ismael Egal, Group Parts Manager for Euro Commercials, who took part last year, says: “I didn’t exactly volunteer, but I’m really glad I did!
“I wanted to tick this off before my 60th birthday, and being met by family at the finish line—especially the grandkids—was emotional. It was such a great day, great camaraderie, and I met some lovely people along the way.”
Ismael’s Euro Commercials teammate Lee McCarthy says: “I’ve completed the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge twice in aid of Tŷ Hafan.
Service Manager Lee adds: “It was an incredibly tough experience, both physically and mentally, but finishing the challenge and raising funds for such a wonderful cause made every step worthwhile.”

“No family should have to live their child’s short life alone,” says James Davies-Hale, “and by taking part in the Welsh 3 Peaks for Tŷ Hafan Children’s Hospice you’ll be helping us to walk alongside more families during their child’s life, death and beyond.”
