BRANCHING Out? Why not get your new year off to a great start by joining one of Tir Coed’s brand-new weekend woodland skills courses at Scolton South Woods, near Haverfordwest?
Tir Coed is expanding its woodland training opportunities with three new two-day, fee-paying courses. These hands-on sessions share traditional woodland skills, promote sustainable management and help support our charity’s long-term mission.
Perfect for beginners, landowners, volunteers or anyone passionate about woodland conservation and green woodworking, each course blends expert-led learning with real-world experience in the woods.
No experience is needed; just enthusiasm, curiosity and a love for the outdoors!
Upcoming courses are as follows:
January 17-18, 2026, 10-4pm – Woodland Management for Conservation: Understand how to manage woodlands to enhance biodiversity and habitat health.
January 24-25, 2026, 10am-4pm – Coppice and Coppice Products: Explore sustainable woodland management and craft useful products from coppiced wood.
February 7-8, 2026, 10am-4pm – Hurdle Making: Learn the traditional craft of splitting and weaving hazel into beautiful, functional hurdles.
When you pay to join a Tir Coed course, you’re not just gaining valuable new skills for yourself - you’re helping them to continue their vital work supporting marginalised people to build confidence, skills and social connection through nature, while improving woodlands for everyone to enjoy.
