A SENIOR Lifeguard at Tenby and art student created the murals that can now be seen at the seaside town’s South Beach, in celebration of 25 years of RNLI lifeguards.

Gwenllian Evans, from Narberth spent her Easter weekend creating the two original artworks. She said:

“After working for the service for five years, I’m delighted to have my work displayed at Tenby South Beach.

“I’ve been studying illustration at Arts university Plymouth for three years and for my final project I wanted to combine my two passions - illustration and the RNLI.

“My work is inspired by marine life and the coast, focusing on local places and personal experience. Living and working by the coast, I’ve always been inspired by the RNLI, and I wanted to create something to support their efforts.

“I want to use my art to give back to a charity that saves lives every day,” added Gwen. “If my art can inspire people to become lifeguards, ask questions or simply raise awareness, then it has achieved exactly what I hoped.”

Gwen (Instagram / Facebook @saltandinkstudio) has worked as a lifeguard in Tenby over the summer for the past five year, and returns to the beach at the end of June.
