Along with groups all across the UK, Penally Yarn Bomb Group has created its own tribute to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day.

The airman and the sailor in the display have been made using a 1940's knitting pattern. The toys were originally made for children whose fathers were away during the Second World War.

The poppies on the ‘80’ located next to the war memorial in the village near Tenby have been made by several ladies in the Penally community, with one special exception.

One poppy dating back several decades was crocheted by a 90yr old WW2 widow. She made and sold poppies for the Royal British Legion all her life; hopefully she would have been proud to be included in this village display.
