It has been a busy first week of community events for Pembroke Dock’s new mayor, Cllr Michele Wiggins.

Thursday, May 1 was a proud evening for Pennar Hall, Pembroke Dock as trustee Cllr Wiggins became the town’s new Mayor, while another of the hall’s trustees, Tony Wilcox, became Deputy Mayor.

Michele has had a busy first week as mayor of the town. Last Friday she participated in the official service to commemorate the 100 year Anniversary for the Memorial Park, then Saturday brought the Fun in the Park event.

“People are still coming up to me and saying how wonderful it was,” said the town’s new mayor. “Thank you very much Pembroke Dock Town Council, it was a lovely event.”

The Memorial Park was again home to an event on Sunday: Bethel Chapel organised a Songs of Praise event there.

On Monday, Michele joined Pennar Hall pacers for a litter pick around Pennar. In the afternoon she visited the Prince of Wales and Red Roses Inn which put on “such wonderful VE Day street parties for our community” - the former also being attended by Eluned Morgan MS, the First Minister of Wales.

Mayor Michele also attended Pembroke Dock Bowling Club where Tenby played Pembroke Dock: the very first bowls game to be played 100 years ago, and went on yesterday to raise the VE Day flag at the Pater Hall, in the presence of a lifelike Sir Winston Churchill!
