TWO concerts in 24 hours were Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir’s special contributions to Remembrance weekend.
Following tradition, choristers took part in the Festival of Remembrance service at Monkton Priory Church on the Friday evening, at the invitation of Pembroke Town Council.
They performed nine items, chosen by Musical Director Juliet Rossiter, including the very appropriate Mansions of the Lord and Tell My Father. They were joined by soloist Mirelle Ryan who was warmly applauded for If I Loved You from Carousel and Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again from Phantom of the Opera.

The well-attended service was led by the Vicar of Monkton, Rev’d Heidi-Maria De Grunchy, and Rev’d Rob James. Standards were paraded along with the Dyfed Fire Service Colour Party. Councillor Aden Brinn read the poem Anthem for Doomed Youth and the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph were given by Pembroke’s Mayor, Councillor Gareth Jones.
On the Saturday morning the choir was invited for to stage at the VC Gallery, Pembroke Dock, before a large gathering. In addition to nine items by the choir there was a memorable solo debut by MC Matthew John, with a medley of three songs from the world wars. And there was another first - a very moving rendition of Bring Him Home, from Les Misérables, by choir accompanist, Rev’d William Lambert.
A well laden table awaited choristers at the conclusion.
