MANORBIER’S fireworks display, a 20-minute professional display by pyrotechnician Sam Nicholls, was truly spectacular.

The football field next to the Giraldus Centre was packed with a crowd oohing and ahhing to the dazzling array of shapes and colours. Inside, food and drinks were being served, with mulled wine and luxury hot chocolate being the most popular items on the menu.

Further entertainment for the children came in the form of traditional fairground games, including a Coconut Shy, Bat the Rat, Tin Can Alley and a Human Fruit Machine. A raffle was held, with top prizes of a pass for two to Best Western Lamphey Court Hotel spa, a family ticket to Carew Castle & Tidal Mill and a family pass to Heatherton World of Activities, as well as two paintings by local Manorbier artist Margaret McCracken.

After the fireworks, those who stayed on were treated to live music in the hall from rock singer and guitarist Will Scott.

Rob Hall, Chair of the South Ridgeway Community Association, which runs the Giraldus Centre, said afterwards:

“All the Trustees would like to express their gratitude to the local businesses and organisations who sponsored this event, namely Manorbier Country Park, Expo Tools & Drills and Manorbier Community Council, and to all the volunteers who helped with planning this event and on the night.

“Everyone who came to the event remarked on how impressive the fireworks were and it was great to see so many families out having a really good time.

“This was only made possible through the generosity of our sponsors and the hard work of our fantastic volunteers, so a big thank you to all of them, and of course to Sam Nicholls.”

Rob and team are already looking forward to putting on another magnificent display next year for the event’s the 10th anniversary.
