Based in Pennar, Pembroke Dock, a new community association has recently been formed, called the 'Grove Street and Castle Street Community Group'.
The group consists of a number residents who have taken it upon themselves to try and make a change to improve their community and bring everyone together.
"We are still in the early stages, but we have been getting support from our housing association and other local community groups and so far all is going well," said chairperson," Katie Pyart.
On Sunday, Katie and secretary Jenna Glover organised a clean-up day as part of the Keep Wales Tidy project.
"We decided to have a litter pick afternoon with the children. We had a fantastic turnout and in total there were 18 children (and a few adult helpers). We all took to Grove Street armed with litter-picking equipment, wearing high-vis vests, and collected all the litter that was lining the streets and in the hedge rows.
"The children were also taught the dangers of different litter, and what to do if they come across it when out playing. It was a great afternoon and between them all, they collected four very large sacks of rubbish. At the end, each child got a certificate for helping, stickers and a small treat.
"As this was out first project, we were very happy with the turnout and we hope that all our future projects will be as successful," added Katie.
"Finally, we would like to say a big thank you to Keep Wales Tidy for loaning us the equipment, as well as a big thank you to all our little community helpers, as they were fantastic!"
• The Keep Wales Tidy project has a base in Pembroke Dock and there is equipment there for anyone else who wishes to organise a project such as this clean-up day. There is no charge for the loan of the equipment.
