Fundraising continues to help assist the family of a young local girl who has been diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) aged just six.

Esther is currently under going intensive treatment at the Heath hospital in Cardiff, with her parents Phil and Jasmine Belle Mcweeney of Manorbier, travelling back and forth and staying up with their daughter to be by her side as she undergoes chemotherapy.

A fundraising page set up by Esther’s cousin Jess Dooner has already reached over £13,000 to help the financial burden on the family (which can be found here: https://gofund.me/8d5d253c) but there was a fantastic turn-out last Friday (August 12) for an afternoon tea and charity day at Beavers Hill towards the cause.

“The Incredible support and generosity was overwhelming throughout the day and evening, so thank you all,” said one of the organisers Ruth Izzard.

“Special thanks to Pembrokeshire Drinks, The Copper Hog, the Flower Barn, and The Baytree. There were donations from so many people, and extra thanks to Acorn Carpentry and Sion Jenkins, and also Liam Robson for liaising with local businesses for raffle prizes - so many that we are going to carry them over for an online raffle over the coming weeks.

“For all those other who were baking/serving and tirelessly washing up all day, thank you too - Christine, Tracey, Lorraine, Iwan, Katy, Sion, Sophie, Jack, Pam, Morgan and to each and everyone of you who helped we really couldn’t have done it without you!

“But of course none of this would have been possible without all the local support of people coming to the event on the day, it was an absolute pleasure.

“To top it all Edna our alpaca choose to crown the occasion with the birth of her little girl Christine 6.7kgs during afternoon tea!

“Now I’m sure you all want to know the final amount we raised for Esther and her family which was an incredible £4,007.06, which is absolutely amazing!” she added.
