A stalwart of local politics is celebrating 50 years of service this month.

Yesterday (Thursday) marked the 50th anniversary of Clr. Michael Williams who represents the Tenby North ward on Pembrokeshire County Council, standing and winning the July by-election against candidate James Frederick Titterton for a seat on the old borough council.

Clr. Williams who is currently the Plaid Cymru group leader on PCC, was born, brought up and educated in Tenby.

He still lives in the same house on Harding Street that he grew up in, and was one of the last people to be born in the old Tenby Cottage Hospital.

Plaid Cymru Leader Leanne Wood AM said: “I’d like to congratulate Councillor Michael Williams on this important milestone – it is community champions like him that make Wales such a great place to live.

“Tenby is lucky to have such a representative, he truly embodies the term community champion with all his work locally, ” she added.
